Why?
Urban Grain
Removing the roof will break down
the Stretford Mall block.
This serves to expose the fine urban grain
and individual shops currently hidden by the imposing mass.
The site will be returned to a human scale from a car scale.
Reinstated High Street
King Street was once the main shopping street in Stretford, until the mall was built on top.
Part of the mall follows the path of where King Street once stood. The removal of the mall roof, will reveal the high street again,
re-establishing a recognisable town centre again in Stretford.
